Exciting News for Gluten-free Consumers
I just found two exciting pieces of news for gluten-free consumers!
There will be a fantastic gluten-free food expo at the Wyndham Hotel in Lisle, Illinois, where you can sit in on cooking classes given by chefs, nutritionists and your favorite cookbook authors, as well as visit a vendor fair with over 30 gluten-free vendors. You will also have the opportunity to speak to cooking experts regarding substitutions for common food allergy items like eggs, milk, and soy (I have to tell Julie about that!). For kids ages 4-12 the food expo will have special programs, including a cooking class and a fun interactive session about eating out without your parents. The second exciting piece of news is an offer by Betty Crocker. Betty Crocker is giving out a coupon for a free box of gluten-free cake mix that can be used at any U.S. retailer. Just to let everyone know: I called General Mills this morning 8/8/09 and their voice mail system now says “due to the overwhelming response, we are out of coupons for our gluten free cake mix”
