Gluten-Free Drink – Refreshing Spring Smoothies

When the weather gets hot I need something cool to keep me going.  With all the demands on my time I can’t afford to get sluggish.  I often find that a cool refreshing smoothie is a great pick me up. This season lends itself to particularly delicious smoothies as you can toss in your favorite spring berries and fruits for big taste and a bigger boost of vitamin C.  This gluten-free drink is a great breakfast option although truthfully I usually enjoy it most mid-afternoon.  It is a healthy snack for my kids too and they think it is a big treat. I have found that almost everyone has their own favorite smoothie. Below is mine, I particularly enjoy the peach banana combo. Feel free to share yours in the comments.

My favorite gluten-free smoothie:

1 1/2 cups total of the following fruits: pineapple, banana, strawberry, ripe peach, nectarine

1/2 cup mango juice

1/4 c. vanilla or plain yogurt

1-2 Tbsp honey

Freeze fruits overnight. Process slowly in blender. Pour in a tall cold glass.

Your’s looks good. I can’t wait to try it. Here’s our favorite smoothie.

    1 cup plain yogurt
    1 cup OJ
    2 frozen bananas
1 mango (cut away from seed and peeled)

If there’s any extra, I freeze it in popsicle molds. Sometimes I make a whole batch just for “ice pops.” This was my solution to my son wanting ice cream treats all the time when he was a toddler. He could eat as many of these as he wanted without me feeling guilty about nutrition. He’s 11 now and still asks for this.

Thanks! My son is gluten free dairy free and I’m really lacking in the smoothie department, thanks again for the recipe! I hope it’s good with soy yogurt.
