This is the time of year when I solemnly declare that I’ve had ENOUGH of winter. Of course, it’s only January and I’m still dressing my kids in layers and layers of clothes, but at least we’re a couple of months closer to warm weather, spring training and chili dogs! While winter doesn’t seem to care what I think I’m not going to accept my frozen state sitting down – I’m going to make chili!

In the interest of promoting gluten-free awareness and making our gluten-free lives more comfortable we have decided to conduct a forum of major gluten-free personalities and bloggers to answer the question: What are five ways to make a difference in the gluten-free community? This is the second installment in that series (if you missed our first guest blogger, Chad Hines, check out this link http://www.jensglutenfreeblog.com/gluten-free-activism/how-to-make-a-difference-in-the-gluten-free-community/).

I originally came up with the idea a few weeks ago when I had spent over an hour on the computer trying to find the answer to a simple gluten-free cooking question. Wouldn’t it be great to have a gluten-free super-site that would provide all the health, cooking, recipe, and other assorted gluten-free living questions in one place? Oh, and maybe that website could sell some gluten-free noodles for less than $5! So the other day I invited Julie over for some coffee and gluten-free chocolate cake and we sat down to discuss my idea. She loved the concept and suggested I add our gluten-free blog and links to other blogs to the website. That would be the epitome of one stop gluten-free shopping.

When you introduce yourself to people, how do you identify yourself?

In trying to come up with the proper method of introducing ourselves in this blog we have gone through various alternatives. Julie is a writer, a teacher, a wife, and a mom. Jen is a lawyer, a cook, a wife, and a mom. But we are not just any moms. We are gluten-free moms. And to be brutally honest, over the past year that is how we have begun to identify ourselves.
